FocusNotes
A Chrome Extension Born from Frustration
Sometimes the best tools come from personal frustration. That’s exactly how FocusNotes, my upcoming Chrome extension, came to be.
The Problem with Current Note-Taking Apps
I found myself getting increasingly frustrated with my note-taking app. While it had dozens of features, what I really needed was simple: a way to take notes about specific websites and have those notes appear automatically when I returned to those sites.
Instead, I was dealing with:
- Notes scattered across different folders
- Having to manually organize and label everything
- Too many features I never used
- The constant need to switch between tabs and applications
What I wanted was straightforward: open a website, take notes about that website, and have those notes appear automatically when I returned. Nothing more, nothing less.
Building the Solution
I was sat there looking everywhere for something that did what I needed, it didn’t exist. I went deep into hyperfocus and spent a couple of days building something that I think people with ADHD will appreciate. FocusNotes is a Chrome extension that does exactly what I need:
- Creates a simple sidebar for taking notes
- Automatically saves notes specific to each website
- Shows your notes instantly when you return to a site
- Allows you to export saved notes (just one per website – no clutter)
No complicated folders. No unnecessary features. Just website-specific notes that appear when you need them.
What’s Next
FocusNotes will be available soon on the Chrome Web Store. It’s been built with simplicity in mind – because sometimes the best solutions are the ones that do one thing really well.
